The Oryx is a large antelope that stands 120 cm high and has a light brown to white colored coat. It has distinctive black and white markings on its face.
They usually live in pairs or in small herds in the African savanna or in the Arabian deserts, where they are protected by conservation laws.
The Oryx prefers open spaces and gets its nourishment from grass, unearthed roots and wild fruit.
They are active from early morning to late evening.
Through their body’s unique cooling and moisture extraction system, they are able to survive for days in the scorching heat of the desert without water.
They are agile and quick. Due to their courage and up to 70 cm long saber-like horns, they have a good chance of emerging victorious even after confrontations with lions.
